The Hornsey Trust was
founded in 1963 by Mr Peter Rigby, then Mayor of Hornsey, with
the aim of providing a Centre for the education, training and
leisure activities of people with learning difficulties. The
Centre was officially opened in 1967 by its Royal Patron, HRH
Princess Alexandra.
We
support children with cerebral palsy, their families and
professionals working with them. We specialise in an approach
known as Conductive Education - an active process of guided
learning developed specifically for children with cerebral
palsy.
Our
Conductive Education Centre is London's only specialist Centre
and school for children with cerebral palsy approved by the
Department of Education and Skills.
Since
1998, the Trust has also been providing training and practical
help and advice to SENCOs, teachers and learning support
assistants. Our courses are specifically geared towards their
needs and that of the individual children concerned.
